About the Film

His name is Eku is short drama about male trauma. In our community, Traditional gender roles often portray men as strong and dominant. Cultural beliefs in many African societies might not recognize men as possible victims of sexual violence. This has led to a prevalent lack of understanding, empathy and support towards male survivors. This film will serve as a great informative piece for our community. It will help us change perspective, possibly encourage us to support male friends and family members who are victims of trauma. Let’s look at our cultural norming. Let’s really listen. Let’s break this silence together. Thank you for supporting this production.
